在语言学习过程中，各种情感因素交织在一起，共同影响学习效果。对语言学习产生影响的情感因素主要指学习动机、学习态度、性格和自信心。1、动机。动机（motivation）在情感因素中占极其重要的地位。调查结果发现，在影响第二语言学习的诸因素中，动机占33%，学能占33%，智力占20%，其他占14%。动机是激励个体从事某种行为的内在动力，常表现为为达到某种目的而付出努力的愿望。2、态度。态度是构成动机的主要因素之一。它是个体对某种客观事物的评价性反应，是在对事物了解的基础上产生情感上的褒贬好恶，并反映出对之采取行动的倾向性。学习态度大体上可以分为积极态度、一般态度和消极态度三种。对于汉语学习来说，这三种不同态度是会大大影响语言学习效果的。3、性格。性格对于第二语言学习非常重要，个性特征是重要的情感因素。外向性格和内向性格在学习语言的时候有明显的不同。外向型的学习者喜欢多说话，愿意交际，不怕犯错误，这就能获得较多的语言输入和输出的机会，特别有利于强调快速反应的口语能力的提高。而内向型性格的学习者由于不爱说话，不爱交际，可能在口语能力的提高方面慢一些，但在、阅读理解及写作能力方面钻研较深。对于不同性格的学习者，教师应针对不同特点因材施教，扬长避短。4、自信。自信，指的是个人对自己的评价并习惯性地以这种评价关注自己。它用一种赞同或反对的态度来表达对自己的成功与价值的相信范围。简言之，自信是个人对自己所持的一种价值判断。具有高度自信的学习者能更积极主动的学习，不怕犯错误，能得到更多的机会练习并提高语言运用能力。来源：儒森对外汉语进修学校

美国乔治城大学医学中心（GeorgetownUniversityMedicalCentre）的一项研究发现，那些会说两种语言的小孩，在“执行控制系统”（executivecontrolsystem）的任务中，比如：集中精神、抑制行动和短时记忆，与只会一种语言的孩子相比表现地更加出色。这说明会双语能力的人更聪明。而学习对外汉语专业，恰好能够让中文教师们获得更好的双语能力。加拿大约克大学（YorkUniversity）心理学家EllenBialystok的一项研究显示，双语的优势会持续到老年，即使大脑的敏捷度已经自然下降，但双语者比单语者出现老年痴呆症的年龄平均要晚大约四年左右。这告诉我们，老人家会双语也许还能预防老年痴呆。真是有趣极了。就对外汉语专业而言，深入学习的人能够锻炼良好的跨文化交流技能，提高对于汉语言、文学、文化的更深层的觉知，同时外语水平也能得到锻炼。如今也有许多留学生非常偏爱对外汉语专业，喜欢教老外中文这个过程的乐趣。他们看到对外汉语给他们带来的诸多好处。常莹曾经在宾州大学读硕士，申请到了学校的助教职位，发现不少同学都想找中国人学中文。她想到曾经接触对外汉语专业是一件偶尔，也是必然的事情：看到老外们对于汉语的热情，我开始反思，我们平日里天天再说的，被我们所忽视的汉字语言，哪里吸引了他们。我把一些书籍很精心地阅读，其实文字的字里行间，遣词造句，都有着文人的情操和对于世事的感悟。而对于这种感悟与情感的表达，是一串串精炼的汉字词语，而这些词语的准确与美感，让人惊叹。比如就“道”这一个字而言，英语中恐怕用上几十个单词也解释得不够完美。还有些句子字词，发音抑扬顿挫，让人充分体会到一种音韵的美感，而文字背后流淌的起伏情感，也像极了魔术师的一双巧手，像极了心灵治疗者的声音，像极了按摩师地道的手法，每一个力度都是那么恰到好处。我开始想学习对外汉语专业，把我的一种感悟传递给他们，老外们也许有一个感觉，但是对于真正汉文化的内核，却是有着一层很厚的隔膜的，他们不知从何学起，浩如烟海的文化知识，怎么串联。一个有心的老师的领路，一定会如锦上添花。但是在开始的时候，真的不会教。完全没有对外汉语专业的基础，我对于老外们的汉语水平和学习能力把握不了，而且在教习汉文化的时候，有些方式，似乎并不能达到满意的效果，不能让他们也感受如我一样的体会。趁回国的时候，去了趟儒森汉语学校，便决定在那里的专业环境中解答我内心的困惑。带着曾经的失败实践经验，我在培训课程中，似乎特别有东西。而且幸运的是，老师们的讲课内容，非常详细专业，把我心中的一系列疑问，和想要学习的东西，都覆盖到了。回宾州大学重新为他们编排中文课程时，老外朋友们看到了我的巨大变化。她们告诉我，莹，你现在自信多了，而且你的课堂比从前更加有趣，我们喜欢你设置的许多小游戏，还有对于中国传统文化解读的方式，它在我们眼前更加生动起来了。对于常莹来说，她是万千喜爱对外汉语教学中的一员，也是众多从没了解过这个专业，而通过儒森汉语学校，获得优秀出色教学能力的一群人中的一个。她说，未来在她的大学，或者附近的居民中，学习汉语的人，会越来越多，而对外汉语专业，也将成为更能支撑一个人发展梦想的最佳职业。
